Fort Sanctuary Wuyi Rock-essence+ Specialty Tea

Wuyi Rock-essence+

The legendary Wuyi rock-essence teas, crafted using leaves harvested from prime regions in Wuyishan, China, are symbols of luxury, prestige, and cultural refinement. These teas, celebrated for their profound flavors and intricate aromas, are the culmination of centuries-old craftsmanship and reverence for nature. Wuyishan has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.

Drawing inspiration from the legendary Wuyi rock-essence teas imported into Singapore during the 1960s and aged for decades, Fort Sanctuary meticulously recreates these distinctively Singaporean characteristics through precise firing and carefully calibrated aging techniques. Leveraging proprietary techniques developed through years of expertise, the company unlocks the true potential of the world’s finest teas. Far beyond mere beverages, Fort Sanctuary’s specialty teas serve as gateways to profound sensory experiences, unveiling nature’s secrets.

Here, Fort Sanctuary transcends traditional boundaries with Wuyi Rock-essence+, a masterfully curated blend that harmonizes heritage and innovation. This exceptional tea unites the prized leaves of Wuyishan with rare leaves harvested from ancient tea trees in Jinfoshan, another UNESCO World Heritage Site in Chongqing, China. The synthesis of these two sacred terroirs, each distinguished by its unique geological and ecological attributes, results in a tea of extraordinary depth and character.

Much has been written about the unparalleled purity and vitality of water drawn from sacred springs; the qualities elude precise explanation yet evoke a profound sense of reverence. Likewise, the leaves from these two hallowed landscapes embody an ineffable essence that distinguishes them from those of other origins.

Through the confluence of these extraordinary sources, Fort Sanctuary reaffirms the philosophy that tea is far more than a mere beverage; it is a profound expression of culture, nature, and human craftsmanship.

How to make the finest specialty tea using Fort Sanctuary Wuyi Rock-essence+ tea leaves?

There are many ways you may use these tea leaves.

We recommend two types of brews – the Connoisseur’s brew & the Aficionado’s brew.

For teapots and teacups, ceramic is best. Avoid using metal; tea reacts with metal, producing odors that pollute the drink.

For connoisseurs, they use small porcelain pots or lidded cups.

Step 1. Put leaves into pot/lidded cup.

Use the right amount of leaves and apply the right steep times to bring out the best in the tea leaves.

See our guide for the recommended brews for our tea leaves.

Step 2. Fill pot/cup with hot water, allow to infuse.

Water temperature >98°C; near boiling temperature.

Use the freshest filtered water possible.

Watch the steep time, but feel free to experiment.

Step 3. When brewed to your preferred strength, decant & serve.

Authentic Wuyi rock-essence tea leaves easily hold up to more than 10 brews (for Connoisseur’s brew) or 5 brews (for Normal brew).
